The time we helped out the US Military change a tire on a tank blocking traffic was a service call we will always remember! In March 2019, Team Pro-Tow responded to a call to help the Washington State Patrol, Washington State Department of Transportation, and the US Army to assist with a flat tank tire! It was literally roadside assistance for an army tank.
Army Convoy Flat Tire
An Army Convoy was cruising down the I-405 in Renton, WA, during rush hour traffic when a tank suffered a flat tire. It was blocking a lane in a busy area, jamming up traffic and causing disruptions in everyone’s commute. They soon discovered that even a heavy jack system could fail under the weight of a 40,000-pound vehicle. This was a job for Team Pro-Tow!
We arrived with our 50-ton rotator crane-style heavy-duty wrecker. We hooked the crane up to the suspect end of the tank and gave it a lift! Once the tank was off the ground, their crew could change the tank tire.
Heavy-duty Equipment Lifting
The crane-style wrecker made safe and quick work with the overhead lift rotated over the hood of our vehicle. Our wrecker and skilled operator was able to get that tank up without closing another lane of traffic, so those guys could quickly swap out the large tire. We got the convoy back on their way and traffic flowing normally again.
