Semi-Truck Towing for Too-Tight Turns

A semi-truck with a loaded trailer missed the driveway to the warehouse. No problem! They’ll just use the next driveway? Unfortunately, the right turn was a little tight, and the trailer didn’t want to stay on the road. When this happens, Team Pro-Tow will be there with our fast and efficient semi-truck towing service.

In this incident, all it took was a little lift and straightening the back of the trailer. Our trained operators use our fleet of rotator crane-style wreckers to safely rig and lift trucks, trailers and heavy equipment. Our heavy towing service is vital to local fleets, and we are ready to assist 24 hours a day.

Tight Right-Hand Turns with a Truck and Trailer

A semi-tractor and long heavy trailer need plenty of space when taking a right-hand turn. If you see one on the road with a right indicator light, let it go first and never try to pass it in the far right lane! They need more room than you might think, and you must avoid landing in their blind spots.

A tight right-hand turn can cause a truck to hit the curb or other vehicles, or it can cause the trailer to slip off the road, as it did in this case. Truck drivers can avoid the need for semi-truck towing, slowly approach the turn with the truck positioned in the right lane. Take the turn wide, but avoid swinging too much to the left. If you must, wait for vehicles to go by.

If you’ve overshot, don’t try to reverse. It could make a stuck situation worse. Remember, Pro-Tow is on call 24/7 for heavy towing and fleet services.

Slow and Steady Stays Wheel-Side Down

This truck was likely already slowing down when it jammed itself in the wrong driveway. Thankfully, this was an inconvenient but low-risk situation. But taking turns at higher speeds with a truck and trailer is a recipe for disaster. Even a curve on the road at a reasonable speed can feel wobbly with a loaded trailer. If you take curves and turns too fast, you can cause a jackknife or a rollover accident.

Pro-Tow has flipped far too many semi-trucks and trailers back on their wheels. Through years of semi-truck towing and recovery, we’ve seen the worst-case scenario for drivers and operators. Remember, adapt your speed to the weather conditions, maintain the speed limit, stay focused, and use your best judgment.
